At heart, I'm a translator. I've done this job for 25 years. AI is just the latest medium.

I'm Mandy Shaffer, founder of mosAIc operations. I help founder-led small businesses eliminate manual work by connecting the tools they already own. Before that, I spent 14 years inside a large corporation watching the same broken patterns repeat at scale. And even earlier than that, a classroom and then a textbook editing desk. The thread across all of it is the same job: translating what's broken or disconnected so it works for the person on the other side.

I've taught everyone from elementary school students to university administrators. The audience changes, the medium changes, but the core work is identical: I sit between a complicated system and the human trying to use it, and I make the system work for the human.

Sometimes the system was a math curriculum. Sometimes it was college classroom software. Sometimes it was a sales pipeline worth millions. Now it's the entire stack of tools running your business.

The tool is interchangeable. The translator is not.

Where the experience comes from.

Fourteen years at one of the top educational publishing and digital learning companies in higher education, across product strategy, regional sales, national training, and operations.

Built 14 institutional SaaS pilots end-to-end, from alpha prototype through onboarding, training, deployment, and performance analytics

Established and led a national advisory board of educators and administrators to ground every product decision in real user feedback

Then I watched the same corporation start rolling AI out the wrong way. Tools pushed without proper training or judgment about which ones actually fit. Work being replaced that shouldn't have been. A productivity layer slapped on top of broken processes, then called a strategy.

That's when I left to build mosAIc operations.

What that background actually gives you

I can walk into a small business and read its operations the same way I used to read the operations of a college department or a national sales territory. The patterns are the same: manual workarounds that became permanent, tools nobody trained on, processes that only the founder understands. The translator job is identical. The scale is smaller, and that's the advantage.

Small businesses don't have to make that mistake. You can scope, build, and adopt a targeted automation in the time a corporation spends in vendor evaluation. You can put a human in the loop at every step. You can change course in a week if something isn't working.

That agility advantage is real. But it only works if the person helping you build has seen the failure patterns up close, knows how to diagnose before building, and stays on to make it stick. That's the work I spent 25 years doing at scale. Now I do it for businesses that deserve the same level of attention, without the enterprise overhead.

The thing people don't expect.

I've been told I'm easy to talk to my whole career. In waiting rooms, on planes, at conferences. Strangers tell me things they probably wouldn't tell someone they'd known for years.

I used to think that was just a personality quirk. Now I understand it's the most important part of this work.

When someone trusts you enough to hand over the real broken thing, not the tidy version they prepared for the meeting, that's when you can actually fix it. Most consultants get the tidy version. I get the real one. And the real one is always where the problem actually lives.

That's not a technique. It's 25 years of caring more about the person than the process.

What I actually do.

I build small, targeted automations that connect the tools your business already runs on. I diagnose before I build. I keep a human in the loop on every workflow. I stay on after the build to monitor, fix, and tune.

I don't sell software. I don't replace teams. I don't promise to run your business for you. What I build is the connecting tissue between the work that requires your judgment and the work a computer should have been handling all along.
